GCSE English Literature
My teaching philosophy is grounded in my own experience having achieved a 9 at GCSE and an A at A Level. Working from the outside in, I always begin by explaining what the questions are asking and where marks are awarded as I know that Literature is viewed as subjective it is important to set clear boundaries. Lessons are often interactive, using my foundation of powerpoints on theme, character and context I will ask students to draw links and develop analysis. By giving them independence of thought at this stage it is beneficial in the exam as they will be well practised. Practise and planning are the most important preparation for an exam and often times I will plan alongside students, helping to structure their answers and even provide exemplar answers.
