Arteries: carry blood away from the heart, have thick muscular walls, have small lumens, and contains blood under high pressure. Veins: carry blood to the heart, have thin walls, have large lumens, contains blood under low pressure and have valves. Capillaries: one cell thick, very low blood pressure, and gas exchange takes place here.
