About Lucy Handley
I am a 4th year dentistry student with a background in Maths and Science. I have previously worked at a tuition center teaching Maths and English to children aged 4-11 and slightly older children with learning difficulties. I also have experience doing the 11+ exam and the UCAT (a more advanced aptitude test for dental and medical students).

My Teaching Approach
I plan my sessions based on what the child wants to focus on each week. I like to know in advance what this is so I can plan the session accordingly however am happy to have flexibility e.g. if a child has received some homework that they're struggling with I'm happy to change and focus on that. I understand the importance of reviewing topics and therefore often do a quick review at the start of the session with a couple of questions focusing on the topic we practiced in the previous session. I believe this helps engrain the topic into the long term memory rather than just the short term memory.
