My Teaching Approach

I like to tailor my teaching approach to the needs of my students, but these are some of my preferred methods. I think exam questions are the most important revision tool for English, especially for my Year 11 students. Together, we can go through past exam papers, planning and writing out essays. I'm free to mark any practice essays my students do, and I am willing to write out model answers inside and outside of lessons. I provide my students with other useful tools such as skeleton paragraphs and tips for different essay-style questions. For my literature students, we will look at doing context readings together in order to pick out information to include in our essays - such as social and political factors that may have influenced the writer's decisions.
