About Luke Matthews

I have recently graduated from King's College London, with a first-class bachelor's with honours degree in History and International Relations. I have also been awarded a scholarship at the Yenching Academy of Peking University, to pursue a masters degree in China Studies, with a particular research focus on China's approach to nuclear order in South Asia.


I also have a wide interest in foreign languages, and the English language itself. I have pursued this by completing a Cambridge CELTA teaching English qualification, and also through the independent study of Mandarin, French, and Russian.

My Teaching Approach

My lessons focus on high-quality works within the English language, and are simultaneously guided by contextual knowledge of history and philosophy. This is delivered through extensive engagement with students, with both controlled and free practice throughout the lesson. The benefit of this approach is that it aids students in tackling advanced English, whilst emphasising their involvement in the lesson, and preparing them for examinations.
